A guest post by Winter Park store manager, Jennifer Schroeder
At Ten Thousand Villages in Winter Park, take a trip around the world, just by walking through the door.
Our store is a place where shoppers are surrounded with beautiful, handmade jewelry, accessories, home décor, musical instruments, and unique gifts made by artisans in 28 developing countries. The products at Ten Thousand Villages are handcrafted by talented artisans and every purchase allows these artisans to create a better life for themselves, their families, and their communities.
Ten Thousand Villages works directly with their artisan partners to build long-term relationships and pays them a mutually agreed upon fair price for their work. This partnership creates opportunities for disadvantaged artisans, especially for women artisans and artisans with disabilities. The income they earn helps these talented individuals access medical care, healthy food and safe water, send their children to school, and plan for their futures.
Every product we carry is carefully handcrafted using traditional methods that have been passed down through the generations. The materials used are recycled and sustainable, with the goal of protecting the environment for future generations. It’ s a great way to honor Mom, with a gift that will bring health, safety, and a future to mothers and children in other parts of the world.
Shopping at Ten Thousand Villages means discovering–and making–a world of difference. Mom will love a gift from this store because our gifts give back. And that’s a great way to remind her that she raised you well!
